Birth, Death, Marriage Certificates
Unabridged birth certificates (copie intégrale), short-form/abridged birth certificates and international short-form/abridged birth certificates (extrait international) are issued by the commune of the place of birth. Applications for certified copies may be submitted in-person, online, by post or by phone. Certificates are available to the person named in the certificate and parents.
The marriage certificate is always filed in the Luxembourg commune where the civil wedding ceremony took place. A copy or an extract of this certificate can be obtained by either spouse from the Communal Administration online, in person, by phone or by mail.
The copy or extract of a death certificate is a reproduction in full or in part of the details indicated on the death certificate. A relative of the deceased can request a death certificate. Depending on the commune, requests for death certificates can be submitted in person to the civil registrar’s office, online; by post or by phone.
