Apostille Certificates of No Impediment to Marriage issued in India

We attest certificates of no impediment to marriage and affidavits of single status issued in India when required for presentation to authorities abroad.

Certificates of No Impediment to Marriage and Affidavits of Single Status which have been certified by an Indian notary public can be legalized for use abroad with an Apostille Stamp issued by the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi (3 - 5 business days). Authorities of countries that have signed the Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents Hague Apostille ConventionExternal link (opens in new tab) will recognise the Apostille directly as confirmation of authenticity. Otherwise, the authentication must be confirmed by the destination country's embassy in London.

Apostille countries include Spain, France, USA, Greece, Italy.
See list of Apostille Convention Countries

Indian Apostilles can be applied directly to a Certificate of Single Status or an affidavit of non-married status that has been certified by an Indian Notary Public or Indian Embassy abroad. The original certificate or notarized affidavit is required for submission to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi.

We'll obtain all necessary apostilles, legalizations and certifications. We also provide notarized and certified translations into Spanish, French, Portuguese and other languages, so that your certificate is properly legalized and ready to submit in the country where you need to present it.

Obtain and attest Indian certificates of single status

India does not issue certificates of single status or bachelorhood. To obtain proof of unmarried status, an Affidavit can be sworn before an Indian notary public. Once certified by the notary, this affidavit will be attested by the Sub-Divisional magistrate before being authenticated for use abroad by the Ministry of External Affairs. If you are based outside India, ask at your local Indian High Commission or Embassy about notarizing an affidavit that can then be certified in India (see Embassies of IndiaExternal link (opens in new tab)). Apostilles are obtained in 3-5 business days on the original notarized copy that can then be delivered worldwide by insured courier.

Certified translations of Indian Certificates of Single Status

When presenting a certificate of no impediment or single status from India in countries which do not have English as an official language, then a certified translation may be required. The certified translation must meet the requirements of the destination country, so that a translation done locally in India may not be valid.

Depending on the recipient country and authority, there are generally two options. The first option is to obtain a translation certified by an Indian apostille, giving the translation the same validity as a notarised translation done in the destination country (although some countries may have specific requirements). The second option is to obtain a certified translation locally in the destination country.
